Senior Designer, Jan. 2003 to Present

Bells International, Inc., Austin, TX: Conceived, self-directed, and produced branded print and electronic media to support commercial clients and awareness campaigns primarily for nonprofit foundations and professional organizations. Materials included event logos, catalogs, posters, web sites, brochures, print ads, HTML email campaigns, and a variety of other promotional items. Also provided additional creative services such as photography and copy writing, as well technical web services such as HTML/CSS hand-coding, PHP, Javascript and MySQL custom programming, domain/web service management, and SEO services. Provided leadership and mentorship to a team that included two other designers, occasional freelancers, and a cold fusion programmer; collaborated with copywriters and president of marketing to form creative strategies; acted as technical adviser to planning teams, and as a liaison between programmers, designers, and business developers.

Additional roles included HTML email distribution and performance reporting, monthly time and expense reporting for team, studio management, team training, workflow and procedure development, manual writing, technical support, equipment research and purchase, press checks, some illustration, flash animation, PowerPoint building, and some audio editing.

Trader Publishing, Today's Nurse, and Employment Guide, Round Rock, TX: Designed marketing material to promote and launch “Today's Nurse,” a new publication focusing on healthcare careers. Also designed supplemental publications. Designed retail and recruitment advertising for local and national clients, and assisted in prepress preparation of publications. Designed materials for and assisted in the production of bi-annual job fairs. Updated and maintained advertising content on related web sites.

Graphic/Advertising Designer, March 2002 to June 2002

E&M Creative Group, Austin, TX: Designed advertising and other print materials for clients of E&M Creative Group, an advertising agency specializing in healthcare recruitment advertising. Developed logos and direct mail designs for campaigns, updated weekly, biweekly and monthly advertising, created PDFs, transmitted ads to publications. Also maintained ad archives, graphic archives, and libraries. Installed, and maintained software, cataloged and tracked registration of software, maintained printing equipment and supplies, set up new Macintosh systems and performed some troubleshooting.

COX Newspapers, The Daily Sentinel, Nacogdoches, TX: Worked primarily with the advertising department of a daily newspaper with a Sunday circulation of 12,000+ to produce creative and original advertising for clients and promotional materials for internal departments while meeting tight daily deadlines. Produced a variety of printed materials ranging from standard newspaper advertising, special publications, posters, T-shirts and brochures to most internal communications. Also produced logos for clients, newsletters, special section cover art and promotional items. Provided editorial support in the form of info-graphics. Worked closely with pre-press production department to prepare materials for four-color offset press.

With an emphasis in computer art, explored multimedia and web design tools as wells as traditional print. Also studied advertising design and printmaking. Sought additional layout and design skills, as well as writing, editing and photography as a journalism minor.
